I was reading earlier a post by Gregor at internetling.com about what OS to use and Why Everyone online should be using Linux.

Gegor had listed 10 reasons why a windows/mac user should Consider getting involved into the linux play field, lets analyse it one by one:
1. Linux helps you get rid of viruses, worms, and other computer infections.
There is no System That is secure, Nothing called "i’m Stealth" Meaning we’re are infectable.. we all can catch virus/Malware ..etc
The idea about Linux being Less susceptible to web threats is that Linux just doesn’t have enough enemies - or should i call them bad guys just wanna hurt you! - Just Think from Cracker’s point of view .. if i wanted to make my virus do it’s best to what OS should i infect! you do that math.. it’s all about popularity.
And coz Linux gained lately a big herd we’ve noticed some threats knocking it’s doors 1997, 2003, 2006, 2006, 2008.

2. Linux is fast and will stay fast.
Vista is a huge resource bitch, i won’t deny that. I’m a WinXP fan myself, linux isn’t the best handling ram!
Whenever it comes to use any GUI it’s all a relative matter depends on the users resources. i’ve installed DSL on my old PC and it ran smoothly, on the same machine after installing Open Suse Gnome was so much faster and more stable than the KDE desktop. Here is another example. Linux isn’t better than Win. resources handling.
3. Linux is easier to use than Windows.
Before Upgrading Linux GUI i had to use the terminal to do ANYTHING and that was really pain in the as*. but still - after partially dumping the Terminal - Linux and windows both share that point.
4. Linux is free as in free beer AND as in free speech.
Now we’ve reached the dispute Point. The main point that 90% of linux users mention when talking about OS. PAID and FREE.
"If you like using it then Pay for it.. if you don’t like paying .. just check out any warez site! " Period. Every One has the right to value how much their work/production worth.
5. Your porn collection is safe with Linux
I’ll pass Talking about this point. as it can be manipulated by your Browser, ISP and your connection type.
6. Thousands of Windows-only applications (even Photoshop CS3) and games work with Linux through WINE just as fast. You can also find good alternative open source software.
If i hate Windows that much "or if i just don’t like it" why even bother installing WINE. why using the alterative when i can use the original?
7. Linux looks better than Windows Vista or Mac OS X
Yes, Linux has many shapes and so is windows and mac. something called THEMES! plus if you like linuc for it’s speed and less graphics part you won’t even care for customizing it’s interface.. will you?
8. Linux is fun
Only till you figure it all out. when i installed Ubuntu 7.10 it was really busy time "Fun as you can call it" trying to make it do anything that WinXP does for me. but after finishing it’s setup i was only opening it to do whatever work i need to do on it, then shutting it down.
9. You can help improve Linux
you can report bugs and threats to Ms/Apple and help other users fixing their OS! it’s social point here.
10. Linux makes you give your computer a name
I’m calling my WinXP "The Chosen One"
I’m Not attacking Linux, i’m in love with anything that is FREE as it won’t hurt. i just see Windows under fire every single day.
