Long time no see (more than 2 months or so?) !
Anyhow, you can figure out from the title that I think it's a very good time for open-source! No, not the new Linux Kernel or Ubuntu 8.10..
It's actually the global financial crisis/problem ! Many IT/Software companies have goen bankrupt and what really bothers me is that their abandoned-programs are still closed-source! maybe free-of-charge, yet closedsource.. I decided to talk to a friend of mine that was fired because the company he worked for (software-company) went bankrupt (well, they fired everybody..) and I asked him "Since the company went bankrupt, did you decide to opensource the programs??" he looked at me with amazement "No, why would we opensource them anyway?" ..
And answer was simple!
"what does the company gain when it's abandoned-ware yet closedsource? it went bankrupt anyway.."
He got convinced, and he discussed it with other workers, hope they opensource their programs..
